Municipal Elections Today

We have 226 municipal courts in Mississippi.  Many of these courts have more than one judge.  Municipal courts have jurisdiction over misdemeanor crimes, municipal ordinances and city traffic violations. Municipal judges may conduct initial appearances in which defendants are advised of the charges being filed, as well as bond hearings and preliminary hearings.

Today’s elections may determine changes in Municipal Court Judges.  Best of luck to all the candidates, and thank you for your willingness to serve.
