Circuit Judge Vernon Cotten Retires

As I mentioned last week, you will see judges start to announce their retirement or plans to not run for reelection next year.

Judge Vernon Cotten announced his retirement yesterday on the first day of the court term.  Judge Cotten has served the Eighth Circuit District for a long time.  He is one of the kindest men I have ever met.  He is an example of a southern gentlemen, if there ever was won.  He was dedicated to his work, and he did not like getting reversed (because he wanted to get it right).  I have enjoyed serving with Judge Cotten.  I do hope he takes senior status and accepts appointments as a special judge.

Well done Judge Cotten.  Thank you for your service to our state and the citizens of the Eighth Circuit District.
