The Criminal Rules are here.

By order of the Supreme Court on December 15, 2016, the Mississippi Criminal Rules will go into effect July 1, 2017.

The Rules can be found HERE.

The order does not mention the Uniform Rules of Circuit and County Court Practice.  But, I am confident that the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Civil Rules will suggest some changes to the Uniform Rules to remove the criminal rules the Uniform Rules

Now we have 22 sets of rules that govern law practice in Mississippi.  I hope the Civil Rules Advisory Committee will take this opportunity to suggest that the Supreme Court consolidate the Uniform Rules of Circuit and County Court Practice, the Uniform Chancery Court Rules, the Uniform Justice Court Rules and the Uniform Rules of Youth Practice.

There is simply no reason we cannot reduce the number of rules and make sure all rules are consistent.
